A Brighter Future

Day Two
  1. The current line up of panellists for QT is Caroline Lucas Green MEP, Norman Baker Lib Dems MP for Lewes, Peter Ainsworth Conservative MP for and from the Univerity of Oxford. Question time begins at 3:00pm at Medway Hall, Angel Centre. Anyone wishing to be part of the audience should email Mike Morrison mim@tonbridge-school.org OR Steve Dawe stevedawe@gn.apc.org. Please send in a question you wish to ask the panel when you apply for a ticket.

You may listen to a recording of the Question Time below.

  2. The lantern procession begins at 5:30pm at West Kent College and we would love to see all of the supporting schools there with lanterns made to support the Kent scheme to turn off the lights.

You could either make the lanterns from scratch or you could buy lampshades and decorate them! Its easy peasy!

If your school is taking part in the procession, please could you email us to confirm this, so we can predict how many people will be at the start and get it all organised.

Primary School pupils, Secondary School students, families, church and green groups will be jining forces to make their dignified lantern procession up the High street on Saturday afternoon. Not too late to join us. Need help with a lantern design or a slogan for your banner? Contact clane@tgs.kent.sch.uk or mim@tonbridge-school.org .

See what Invicta FM are doing for it here.

  3. Unplugged Concert: Headlined by cult musician Johnny Flynn ('think Nick Drake mixed with a bit of the Pogues'), touted as one of the names to look out for in 2008 when his first US produced album hits the shops in May, has kindly agreed to play for us because, as he said 'I feel inspired by what you are doing to make people more aware of the most important challenge facing the world today'.

Johnny Flynn Portrait by Mike Morrison

Johnny plays guitar, banjo and violin and is backed by a band that includes cello, drums and bass, as well as occasional trumpet and spoons! As much admired for the surrealism of his lyrics as his rich voice and impressive playing, Johnny holds an audience (he's also a trained actor who has played some of the major West End stages) like a veteran performer although he is only 24.

  4. Four local bands join Johnny Flynn and Josie Jo. Tickets are now on sale. See the poster (below) for details. Book now to guarantee your ticket. Family ticket concessions available.

Johnny Flynn and his band are specifically looking for a company that specialises in hiring Green transport to bring themselves and their instruments to the concert as a symbol of their commitment to our cause.

Thanks to the Jackson Foundation whose generous donation of funds has made the concert and other events possible.

Due to uncertain weather conditions this is now to be held at Big School, Tonbridge School. Your tickets for Tonbridge Castle are still valid.

Eco Fayre (2nd day), Bring and Swap event, Celebrity speaker (to be announced), More Music at Recycling points, Recycled Bagging + at Supermarkets, Tonbridge version of Question, Sports Tournament for Primary schools, Workshops, Candlelight/lantern parade up High Street (late afternoon), Unplugged Concert in Castle Grounds (evening).
